About the Author of the Site

Hi — I’m Julien Moreau, founder and editor of Sacredskulls Cultural Compass. I’m a writer, cultural researcher and curator with a persistent curiosity for the stories, objects and voices that shape our shared human landscape. My work lives at the intersection of arts, heritage and contemporary culture: I write essays, conduct interviews and commission features that probe history, creativity and the social currents behind them.

Over the past decade I’ve worked with museums, independent presses and cultural organisations across Europe and beyond, researching collections, producing long-form pieces and facilitating conversations between artists, historians and communities. I’m especially interested in hidden histories, contested heritage and the creative practices that reframe how we understand the past and imagine the future.

On Sacredskulls I try to blend rigorous research with a conversational, sometimes provocative voice. You’ll find critical essays that unpack overlooked narratives, interviews that amplify marginalised or boundary-pushing practitioners, and curated features that map the global flows of ideas and aesthetics. I’m drawn to projects that challenge conventional canons and open space for new perspectives.

My approach is empathetic and investigative: I listen closely, follow archival and oral trails, and foreground the people and communities at the heart of cultural production. I value nuance over neat conclusions, and aim to publish work that sparks reflection, debate and—from time to time—action.

When I’m not writing or researching I’m often visiting exhibitions, cataloguing oral histories, or mentoring emerging writers and curators. Travel, translation and interdisciplinary collaboration feed my practice; I’m always looking for voices from outside familiar circuits to enrich the conversation.

If you’d like to pitch a story, suggest a feature, or collaborate on a project, please get in touch through the contact page. I welcome thoughtful proposals, interview requests and contributions that resonate with the Compass’s mission of exploring global arts, heritage and modern culture.
